At a young age, children are interested in language and learning about language. This course presents activities that children will enjoy that enable them to explore the nature of the parts of speech and how words communicate. In this way, children gain conscious awareness of the use of words, and how meaning is conveyed by choice of words. This serves as an aid to reading comprehensionin in that the ability to comprehend can be enhanced by being able to form pictures in one's mind about what has been written. Children get to explore how each word in a sentence influences the picture that gets formed in a readers mind.
