Presentation
Show children how to:
1. Fold paper in half, forming a rectangle approximately 1 1/4" x 5".
2. Cut diagonally from the fold to within about 1/4" of the edge. Space cuts equidistant apart.
3. Open the bookmark and then fold every other cut down, forming an interesting geometrical design as shown above.
Variations
1. Cut curved lines from fold.
2. Christmas tree: show the children how to
fold their paper as before and then lightly pencil in the outline
of a Christmas tree. Children then cut to the line, open and fold
down every other cut as before. They can cut out a trunk and mount
on contrasting paper.
